Prayer Opens the Heavens, Part 4
The beloved Apostle talks about the need for prayer to be fervent. I wonder if we as the Church have lost the art of being fervent in the things of the Spirit. To be fervent is to be enthusiastic.
The most poorly attended meetings in many Churches today is the prayer meeting. A few people turn up for prayer whenever there is a call to pray. Prayer is deemed to be something relegated to a few people who are
least occupied. We find older people mostly at our prayer gatherings as younger, abled bodied people have “stuff” to take care of. Due to a lack of interest in prayer, the Pastor needs to almost
use catchy words or slogans or use gimmicks to lure people into prayer. It is time for the Church to be passionate, high spirited, and zealous about prayer. For such prayer will set the Church on fire, both
young and old will rise with a burning desire for holiness and and a love for God. We will see passionate prayer causing the lives of young men and women in our cities transformed to be torches blazing,
raging on fire for the Ancient of days.
When I was in Bible College I remember having a vision for 100 Churches by the year 1990. On my return i was awakened to this vision and started string myself up to fervent prayer. I got our young and old in a
fledgling little House groups to prayer with enthusiasm. The Lord honored our high spirited prayers and set each one on fire for him. By 1990, praise be to God we had 120 Churches started.
